i spent a day at the boardwalk reading, sipping wine and writing and found a recommended playlist with my girl Jill Scott greatest. let me tell you that i honestly forgot that Jill was a helluva writer/poet *slaps own wrist*
that is REAL disrespectful
the song Love Rain gave me this feeling that instantly put a smile on my face. spoken word over r&b jazz beats. literally had to mark my page in my book and shine light on this song and this moment because meditation has been giving me quiet time to reflect on me and i began to reflect. i recently deleted instagram to focus on me and my new book: Poetry & Prose.
instagram distracted me and with all the creative passion i have, i feel that checking in on sunday gives me 6 days of total creative freedom. i went to instagram for inspiration (so not really a bad distraction) but in reality as a writer I forgot what made me fall in love with poetry. for me i let the world around me inspire me. i never knew what prose was until i saw Reyna Biddy break it down and i realized....girl you were always in a writers block because you write poetry, real feelings in complete thoughts. you love to create visuals through words and in a world full of prose my poetic voice didn’t know where to go. (no shade to those who love or write prose just for me it’s not my strong suit)
and it’s been 3 days and I’m literally 4 poems in with 2 of them being completed. do you know how exciting that is?!
so here’s to living with intention in the most creative way
oh and stay tuned for my monthly photo journal that i will be posting at the end of every month. they are a collection of pictures that either i took or be took and i edited . #teamKoBe
